Naughty Boys

Here's a film many may not have heard of ,Filmed in 1986 and starring Kara Hui ,Carina Lau ( recently seen in Detective D) and Mars ( famous Hong Kong Stunt man and actor who has appeared in many films with Jackie Chan).

Now the film won't win any awards for originality for story or great sets ,but what it has in bucket loads is great hard core 80's fighting and stunt work to blow your mind.

Now Sheng ( Mars) is a ex con who out of jail goes to reap the rewards of his and his friends crime by digging up buried loot ( Diamonds) . Of course when he gets their all he finds is buried rocks ,when he reports this to his friends who are still imprisoned ,but due out soon.,they go off the rails calling him a liar and cheat.

Now the diamonds are the property of who they where stolen from ,enter Bonnie a under cover investigator working to reclaim the diamonds. She Runs in to Sheng ( Literally ) to gain his friendship and spy on him..

The film has more in common with a lucky stars film ,with crazy antics happening all over the place ,Sheng decides to ado a runner after getting money from his cousin Ah-Chuan .But when he books a flight that does not exist he tries to reclaim his money along with 100 other passengers .

Now the man ( Ah Liang) in charge of selling the tickets has been conned by his employer ( Mr,Chen) who has taken the money and left leaving Ah Liang in the firing line.

A roller coaster ride of action ensues when Mr Chen is involved with buying the Diamonds Sheng has lost ,His crime partner played by Phillip Ko has double crossed him and done a deal with one of the prison guards to retrieve the diamonds and sell them ,and pass the blame on Sheng so that his other partners ( Huo Chiang and Piao) will go after Sheng.

What we get is how they all devise plan to get back the stones and go up against Mr Chen and his thugs .

If you want serious stories and real life trials and tribulations then stay away from this ,but if you want fast paced action with stunts by the Jackie Chan Stunt Team ,Jackie even plays a cameo as a prisoner and is seen in the out takes directing stunts .

People jumping of buildings, getting hit with poles ,and blistering fight action is the call of the day here with all participants getting in on the action. Kara Hui is brilliant as Cousin Ah Chuan ,her tough fighting skills show through ,her experience shines from past classics like ''My Young Auntie '' and Lady is the Boss.. Her fight with Lo Meng is awesome.

Carina Lau is funny and very agile in this caper of a movie . And Mars shows he can hold a film like any one else ,why oh why does he so many bit parts ,i know he's a stunt director but this shows his acting capabilities which are entertaining and funny.

Phillip Ko as the double crossing partner is tops as usual in the acting and fight departments ,but then with so much experience behind him we expect no less from him.

There's not much else to say but to pass 90 minutes and laugh and marvel at stunts you can't go far wrong with this ,a classic from the Golden Age of Hong Kong Action.

Score out of Ten = 8
