"It's The Only Way To Survive"

                                      TV  Series Review
                    Angels of Mission 3D

This my first review of a TV series for the site ,it's taken a while to view the various episodes but here it is.

This is a 2008 series from TVB and stars Sonjia Kwok ,Charmaine Sheh and Shirley Yeung .The series follows the lives of three young ladies in the Hong Kong Police who join forces to fight terrorism in Hong Kong.

Sam ( Sonjia Kwok) is the head of the CTU ( Counter Terrorism Unit) ,Fa and Bowie are two CID members who are transferred to help out in a case on CTU . Impressed by their abilities Sam requests that they both join CTU for good going through a training program to be elite CTU agents.

The series follows the lives of the girls as they enter in to various missions to protect Hong Kong from Gun Runners, drug smugglers and Terrorist threats .We also have the side line stories of the personal lives of these three girls who socialize with one another ,how they enter in to relationships and how two will vie after the same man .

Patrick Tam ( Lee) plays a bit of a geek who has fallen on hard times ,he gets injured when he gets in the way of a Police investigation and Fa saves him but he blames Fa and they have a annoyance for one another , thing is they only end up living in the same building block when Lee meets old collage buddy Ming and they end up living together.

Now Ming has a crush on Bowie and wants to date her but Bowie is not interested in dating a child.

In a bid to gain her respect he goes to collage to learn and gets a better job . When Bowie decides to date him it all gets a bit mushy until she decides they should date in secret .

Some scenes are quite funny as Ming is forced to wear Microphones, earpieces and carry binoculars when they shop so he can see what she's buying from across the street.

While all this is going the girls are on missions ,going undercover to infiltrate fire arms traders. Other missions see them get involved in protecting Diplomats from Assassination and others like a Anthrax attack on the city.

Each episode comes in at approx 45 minutes and there are 5 discs and four episodes a disc .

The one thing that lets it down quite a lot is some episodes contain little to No police work and evolve around the love antics of the girls . While you can watch three episodes and get in to a story only to be side lined in to a story of how Fa wants to gain Lee's affection by feeding him or how one of Sam's ex boyfriends who works with her won't let go of her even though he is due to get married. .

I suppose it's all light entertainment and gives the characters a soul and shows their weakness. But in the end the show should showcase the work of the Hong Kong CTU.

It's not to say I did not enjoy the series but I could have skipped a couple of episodes and not made any difference to the main action of the series.

When the action does kick in it's all very in your face ,as this is in 3D as the box would say . No you don't need 3D specs or TV's .The series is shot in a way to give the perception of a 3D environment. Does it work ? No not really ,but it does not matter ,when the action rolls it's fast and fun to watch and it's this which keeps you watching plus it stars three pretty girls in the leads .

Don't go expecting rocket science or the next big thing .but if you want some light hearted entertainment in the Hong Kong Mould then this is available at a fair price with English Subtitles.

All in all a nice package ,comes in one chunky DVD 5 disc box which it self is in a hardboard  box with magnetic lid  ,which also features the DVD cover to.

Score out of Ten = 7
